Survival:

We live in perilous times. Under the surface of what looks like law, order, prosperity, peace and justice, everything is unstable and a lot of people are predicting the ultimate financial meltdown. Bankers, Governments, Intelligence and covert action bodies and shady occult organizations, masquerading as clubs, social service and religious organizations, are like never before feverishly working (because their time is short) towards their goals of establishing a one world government which they call the New World Order (NWO). This NWO is just a heady concoction of different old wines blended and poured into a new bottle with a fancy label. It was written centuries ago that the mystery of iniquity was then already at work. In fact it must have been at work from Mesopotamian, Egyptian and Babylonian times,  so for those in the know through the Word, this coming climax doesn't take us by surprise.

In a nutshell, it is purported to be a fascist order of intellectual-religious-political slavery with mind control and cutting edge technology thrown in for good measure. It will also involve futuristic weapons (like weapons which will mess with your mind) and a united brutal armed force to curb and do away with dissenters. Only "members" will have any rights at all, -including the right to buy and sell.  Most of the members will be slave laborers. Such a scenario is often referred to as  TEOTWAWKI (The End Of The World As We Know It). Those who are wise and are not busy glued to the TV watching mind numbing propaganda and disinformation (or verifiable truth mixed with unverifiable lies), or addicted to hours of  watching sports, movies, listening to music or to the mindless drivel on FM radio, practicing religion,  using mind altering drugs or other similar substance addictions, can  research online and find out the truth for themselves.

Although a TEOTWAWKI scenario would be the ultimate survival situation, for those of you who don't believe it will ever happen, (it might not in our life time) there are other lesser survival situations to worry about. What about a flood, earthquake or other natural disaster? What about a country invading ours and turning the precious fiat money which we worked so hard to earn into toilet paper? What about ethnic cleansing and religious riots which force you and the survivors in your family to take to the hills or forests? Or a real or artificially caused shortage of food in the city with large scale looting of shops and mayhem? Wake up! If you were to have to take to the hills tonight, do you know what foods are edible and what are poisonous? Or how you can trap an animal or catch fish? Can you start a fire and cook without giving away your location? Do you know how to navigate without instruments at night or find and purify water or how to build a shelter? These will all make a difference between life and death. Bushcraft is a set of life skills that everyone should have. If it is good to save up money for a future rainy day, it is even better to learn and practice survival skills which cost and weigh nothing! Remember that in a survival situation, you will always default to your level of preparedness and training.. So like a boy scout, -Be prepared! The posts in this section shall cover both Jungle and Urban survival.

I had planned a section called Surviving single based on my own experiences for students or others who have to live single in the city. If it goes as planned, I will add these posts to a sub-category which I will mention here when it is ready.

Review: Snakes of India -The field guide

By | Oct 20, 2010

Snakes evoke mixed feelings in most people. They are either  feared, adored, worshipped or despised. Even among those who worship and revere them, most of them would rather keep their distance than come up close to observe them. On looking  back at my past interactions with snakes, from a total of about six or seven [...]

First Look: Khukuri, Ganjuwal Swiss

By | Oct 3, 2010

I had been aware for quite some time that my camping equipment was missing a tools for chopping up firewood into manageable pieces. I did have emergency tools like the excellent shark toothed saw on my Victorinox Swiss champ, and a commando wire saw. However these are basically tools to be used in an emergency [...]

MRE’s in India

By | Oct 2, 2010

My post on the Bug out bag keeps getting more complicated and the research seems never ending. It seems sensible to break up the post into manageable chunks instead of one long post which will otherwise weary the reader. This separate post is also advantageous as I can keep reviewing newer products without breaking the [...]
