Backing up & restoring Evolution is as simple as it can get, so I am covering it in a single post instead two posts for all the others.

First the Backup

Open Evolution, Click on File > Backup Settings.

Open Evolution, Click on File > Backup Settings.

Save the file to your backup Media. Note the evolution-backup.tar.gz file that it generates

This backup (Tarred and g’zipped) file contains your messages, folders, preferences, account settings -everything except your account passwords! This completes your backup

Let’s do the restore part now…

If Evolution senses that this is its first run, it prompts you in case you have a backup...

However, you can always run the restore from File > Restore Settings

Once Evolution starts up again, all you need to do is enter your password when prompted!

This works for all accounts you have setup. If you have 3 or 4 email accounts, all of them will be setup using these steps thanks to Evolutions developers!
