Setting up POP email on Zimbra

By | Jul 29, 2010

Ref : EHA/End User Self Help/Common IT Services setup Writing documentation & How To’s can be trying, especially when you are trying to accommodate everyone. There are countless number of email clients available, and users justifiably have their own individual preferences. Accommodating all available email clients and keeping the documentation updated is next to impossible, [...]

Connecting to Multiple IP address ranges from the same PC

By | Jul 27, 2010

Have you ever been stuck with having to connect to two or more different networks having different IP addressing schemes? At the locations which I  support, I have to do this regularly as the Hospital Information System runs on a different IP addressing scheme and the Internet on the other -through the same switch. This [...]

Solved: Error accessing a shared folder between two Windows computers

By | Jul 26, 2010

This has been one of the oldest computer problems to plague me on a regular basis. On a peer to peer network, file and print sharing mostly works out of the box and computers can see and access each others shared resources without any problems. Sometimes something goes wrong and do what you might, the [...]

Experiments with Meths

By | Jul 18, 2010

Do a quick search of the forums and you find that the general opinion is that finding meths in India is hard. Well this may partly be true, because medical spirit or Isopropyl alcohol (probably interchangeable or the same thing) is pretty expensive if you plan to use it for cooking. This is a first impression post on cooking with the cooking gear I purchased for my backpacking and camping trips. This test was done in controlled conditions. The items that I carried with me on my trip were the Bushbuddy wood burning stove, my Trangia spirit burner, the Clikstand for the Trangia, the Snowpeak Trek [...]

Solved: wordpress Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted

By | Jul 6, 2010

I’m trying out WordPress 3 as a platform for our office Intranet/Extranet. Setting it up on a LAMP installation of the 64 bit version of Ubuntu Server (Lucid), I could login only once to the wp-admin page. Whenever I tried again, I got the following error message: wordpress Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 [...]

Trangia meth burner : Review

By | Jul 4, 2010

Having owned the Bushbuddy, and being very satisfied with it, I had no intention of getting another backpacking stove, particularly a spirit burner as I had been coming across information on the Net that getting meths in India is difficult if not impossible. Besides, here it is also an “offense” to carry any flammable stuff [...]
